Dreamers

I'm pretty sure the appeal my little visual escape today has for me is the idea of collapsing into a bed!

The dreaminess of these images by German designer Mohammed Amine Nasseri, titled appropriately "Dreamers" is my creative find of the day.
The images were part of a uni project where the brief was to creatively explore the concept of gravity. I think these images are so well executed and really capture the idea of weightlessness beautifully!

You can see more of his work on his Behance portfolio page here or his website

Lovely Ladies

I hate being short on time, but seems that this is the way my week will be! Fortunately I do have something lovely to share today.

This is the wonderful work of US artist Leigh. Her art certainly has a strong fashion feel to them.
I just love these ladies!

I am such a fan of her style. Her art is beautiful, striking, stunning...shall I gush more?

You can purchase prints of her work in her esty shop - jkldesign

Fabric on display

Just a tiny bit of time to get a post together today....
I am a lover of printed fabrics but often struggle to find ways that they can be used in home decoration without it all becoming overkill! Well here is a sweet way of adding some pattern to your home in a subtle and useful way.

Smidgebox has created these cute fabric buckets which can add a touch of colour and pattern to any little corner in your home. Measuring approx. 17cm high and wide they would be great for tucking away things we want at our fingertips but we don't want on display. I could use one to keep my paper and pens handy by the TV for impromptu doodling.

Check out them here in the etsy shop as well as on the smidgebox blog

Plastic fantastic

After an unsuccessful weekend hunt for resin jewellery, I thought I would cheer myself up with some of my fave etsy stores. Each of these stores has something I would be very pleased to wear and they really appeal to the graphic designer in me!
Plastique is a store with definite appeal for the designers out there. Who wouldn't proudly walk around with any of these pieces. The creator Jen herself is a graphic designer so she sure knows her market!
These curly typographic shapes have a particular appeal to me as I am quite renowned for my curly doodles.
Isette is a store full of lovely pieces but my fave are these 3.Could it be because they all look like an 'e'?

What I really like about Untamed Menagerie's pieces is that there is that little extra piece of imagination added. Silhouettes are super trendy but the talented Penny and Nikki add that little bit of whimsy which makes their peices stand out from the crowd!
I hope you enjoyed this little preview. Please visit each of the shops for yourself.

My weekend mission

I'm off to celebrate Oktoberfest this weekend and on a mission to replace a stunning blue resin ring that I recently broke.
A natural thought stream from this is to check out the website of resin style masters Dinosaur Designs

I really like the Bamboo Collection from 2008.
I am a sucker for green and I think these products are so well styled and photographed too.

I can already picture myself with arm full of the bracelets all stacked and then topped off with a nice chunky ring!
There is an online store where you can grab a beautful piece for yourself or your home.
Anyway happy long weekend and fingers crossed I have a some succes with my jewellery purchase tomorrow.

A year worth looking at

As this year is skipping on by I thought it would be nice to show you a beautiful calender I have come across for next year.

This die-cut calender by A Little Hut would certainly make you happy to let this year slip away just so you can admire these beautiful pages. The calender has 6 beautiul designs so once next year is over and done with, they can be trimmed and enjoyed as artwork for years to come!

If you would prefer to create your own calender Little Hut also offers printable calender templates which you can put your own crafty stamp on. These would make great gift ideas for you know what (it's too early to mention the 'C' word)
Anyway, there are 3 months left of '09 to prepare to celebrate 2010 in style!

Sublime Yellena

As promised here is my gushing praise for the beautiful work of Yellena James

I found her work so sublime and inspirational that after first discovering her I went out and updated my colour pen collection. I work in black so much that the explosion of colour in Yellena's work was such a revelation and really got my heart beating! Here is a small sample of her drawings. Check out more here

Not only are her pen and ink drawings stunning, she has applied her unique style to paintings.

Using acrylic on wood Yellena adds an extra dimension to her organic style and the colours really pop.
See more paintings in her gallery here.
Not suprisingly she is a very in demand artist and you can find many galleries of her work online.
Here is a quick guide to Yellena's work
A glorious Etsy shop - currently with a buy 2 get 1 free offer :-)
Here Gallery, Bristol UK - a current solo exhibition 24th Sept - 24th Oct. 2009
plus you can keep up with her on her blog
